5 Air Handler Problems That Require Air Conditioning Repair Services

Blog

Air conditioning is one of those things that you never really see just how much it is doing for you until it stops working. Unfortunately, it is not a good sign when your AC suddenly stops. You will need to call air conditioning repair services to diagnose and fix the problem. If you have a split-type air conditioner, the problem can come from either of the two sides; the condenser or the air handler. The outdoor unit's condenser is responsible for cooling the refrigerant and heat transfer. The air handler handles the airflow, sucking in air and delivering the cool air to different rooms. What are some of the faults that are often on this part of the AC?

1. Faulty Blower Motor

The blower motor is responsible for pushing air through the ducts and into your home. The blower motor could become less efficient from wear and tear. It can also blow from a power surge. If it's not working properly, you might notice a weakening in the cooling effect because the air is not being pushed adequately forcefully. A licensed AC repair technician can recalibrate a faulty motor or replace a blown one.

2. Dirty Evaporator Coil

One of the most common AC air handler problems is a dirty evaporator coil. A dirty coil causes your system to run inefficiently because heat transfer becomes inefficient. Cleaning an evaporator coil is an easy process that will replace proper function.

3. Faulty Fan Blade

If your air conditioning fan is making a loud grinding sound when you turn it on, there's a good chance that your fan blade has become misaligned or damaged somehow. Air conditioning repair for this fault involves realigning the fan blades and changing the fan's ball bearing to restore smooth fan motion.

4. Clogged Filters

Dirty filters obstruct airflow and make the AC inefficient, so you'll be spending more money on energy bills. Replace your filters at least once a month if you live in a dusty area or at the start of each season for other areas.

5. Power Failure

The air handler side needs power for the blower motor and fan. If there is a power failure, there won't be any airflow if the blower motor isn't working. There are different causes of power failure. The circuit breaker could be tripped, or there could be no power from the mains.

The efficiency of your AC largely depends on the optimal working of the air handling side. Contact air conditioning repair services to diagnose and repair any AC faults.
